Every Belly Score is more than a number. It's a verdict — the product of playtime, analysis, and an opinion that doesn't hide behind averages. Here's how the system works.
The Belly Score is a 0.0–10.0 rating delivered by The Belly, the platform's reviewing voice. It is not an aggregate of user reviews, not a metascore, and not a committee decision. It is one honest, entertaining take on whether a game is worth your time — backed by hours of play and zero obligation to consensus.
Before a game is scored, the community predicts what The Belly will give it. Every prediction is recorded, evaluated against the final score, and factored into the predictor's accuracy rating. Users who consistently land within 0.5 of the actual score earn Bullseye badges and climb the leaderboard. Predictions aren't just a game — they're a running record of who actually knows gaming.
The Pulse System is the platform's data backbone. Every score, vote, prediction, and roadmap contribution feeds into a living signal of what the community cares about. Games with high community disagreement — where the community rating diverges from the Belly Score — are flagged as controversial, surfacing the conversations worth having. Trending scores rise from real engagement, not marketing spend.
The community doesn't just react to content — it shapes it. Through the Content Roadmap, users propose and back ideas for what The Belly should cover next, from individual game scores to deep dives, trend analyses, and retro throwbacks. The most-backed proposals move through the production pipeline: Proposed, In Discussion, Scheduled, In Production, Published. The community's voice has a direct line to the content calendar.
Every action on the platform earns XP: predictions, votes, game requests, and roadmap proposals. Users level up through titles — Initiate, Apprentice, Operative, Veteran, Sage, Master — and earn badges that reflect their contributions to the community. The leaderboard ranks the most accurate predictors, turning game criticism into a competitive, reputation-driven pursuit.
