You will spend your time customizing your fleet, engaging in tactical ship-to-ship combat, and navigating a shared open world. While it captures the thrill of broadside cannon fire and high-seas exploration, the experience is heavily tethered to a live-service loop of gathering resources, completing fetch quests, and managing your reputation. It is a game that prioritizes the grind of building your pirate empire over deep, character-driven storytelling.
