EarthBound drops you into a surreal, neon-soaked version of 90s America where you play as Ness, a kid with psychic powers tasked with saving the world from a cosmic alien threat. It is a bizarre, heartfelt, and deeply subversive JRPG that trades dragons for New Age Retro Hippies and magic for PSI. With its sharp, witty writing and a world that shifts from idyllic small-town charm to psychedelic, dreamlike nightmares, it remains a singular experience that feels just as weird and wonderful today as it did decades ago.
